Nothing is more gratifying than improving the quality of a child’s education. At AVANT ACOUSTICS, we take pride in the countless local school projects we’ve worked on over the years. Some recent highlights are shared below.

AVANT ACOUSTICS provided the following services:

Project Highlights:

• Coronado Middle School – Kansas City, Kansas
  AVANT ACOUSTICS is currently designing AV systems for Coronado Middle School’s performance space, lecture hall, and multipurpose rooms. In addition, AVANT is providing acoustical consulting services related to the performance space, band room, choral room, and practice rooms.
• Wyandotte High School – Kansas City, Kansas
  Originally constructed in 1937, Wyandotte is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Thus, AVANT ACOUSTICS approached the design of an updated sound reinforcement system for its historic auditorium with respect for the existing aesthetics of the space, while fulfilling the need for a system that would support performances with the latest technologies.
• Bonner Springs High School – Bonner Springs, Kansas
  On this auditorium renovation project, AVANT ACOUSTICS worked closely with the architect to tailor the acoustics to be lively enough for musical performance, while still achieving a high degree of speech intelligibility. AVANT also designed a sound reinforcement system that met the school’s needs while staying mindful of the tight renovation budget.
• Lincoln College Preparatory Academy – Kansas City, Missouri
  AVANT ACOUSTICS designed an audio-visual and sound reinforcement system for the Auditorium during a recent renovation. The system includes a powerful digital mixing console, wireless microphones, and an integrated HD video projection system. A permanently installed recording system allows both event recording and playback.
• Blue Valley Northwest High School – Overland Park, Kansas
  When this school recently added an orchestra room, AVANT consulted on the acoustics of the space to ensure it would sound as it should. In addition, AVANT took measurements of and provided recommendations related to the acoustical conditions of the band room, choir room, and practice rooms.

County Commissioners Broadcast System

The Johnson County Board of County Commissioners meets in the county’s Administration Building. The county recently converted this space into a television broadcast facility so that board meetings and other events could be live broadcast.

AVANT ACOUSTICS provided the following services:

• Broadcast system design
• Audio-visual system design
• Sound reinforcement system design
• On-site system commissioning, including operator training and assistance during the first use

Project Highlights:

The broadcast system includes five high-definition pan-tilt-zoom cameras. The new production video switcher has live streaming capabilities and a control surface that provides both video switching and camera control. A digital video recording device allows for the archival recording of proceedings.

The audio-visual system includes 80-inch displays at the front of the room and personal monitors on the dais. The entire system is controlled by touchpanels with intuitive AVANT-designed interfaces. One touchpanel is located at the clerk’s desk on the dais, and the other, which includes more advanced functions is located in the control room.

City of Independence Utilities Building

This $11 million project transformed an empty building on a former hospital campus into a LEED Platinum office building. The 47,500-square-foot space now houses three city departments, a customer service center, and a public meeting space.

This project received the 2017 Kansas City Business Journal Capstone Award.

AVANT ACOUSTICS provided the following services:

• Sound reinforcement system design
• Digital signage design
• On-site commissioning, including operator training and assistance during the first use

Project Highlights:

AVANT ACOUSTICS designed and commissioned AV presentation, sound reinforcement, and conferencing/recording systems for the large training room and large conference room. Both rooms feature wireless audio-video sharing and collaboration capabilities from personal mobile devices such as phones and tablets.  

In addition, AVANT created simple presentation systems for the smaller conference and training spaces.
