Project Highlight: St. George’s Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral
Project Highlight
This past week, we had the pleasure of revisiting St. George’s Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral. Our work began in 2018 with an evaluation of the church’s existing sound systems. During that time, we recommended replacing the faulty audio processing equipment and updating the loudspeaker coverage. Ensuring more consistent sound distribution in seating areas, reducing the sound being directed at the reflective walls and ceiling.
To better support the congregation’s budget, they prioritized implementing the replacement of audio processing equipment. We provided commissioning services to maximize the performance of their existing loudspeakers.
In 2025, the congregation revisited our initial recommendations and chose to proceed with replacing the loudspeaker distribution. We provided design services for the upgrade and assisted in the RFP writing process, allowing them to seek competitive bids from multiple contractors.
The loudspeaker system updates included purchasing two new steerable column array loudspeakers. We again provided commissioning services to electronically steer the loudspeakers, maximizing audio coverage over the seating areas. Keeping the sound spilling on other reflective services to a minimum. We also retuned the loudspeaker system and updated its controls to better suit the cathedral’s evolving needs. Lastly, we equipped staff with the knowledge to work these systems, ensuring the staff felt confident operating the systems.
Collaborating with St. George’s Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral has been exceptionally rewarding. It’s been a pleasure to help them navigate improving their systems over time through multiple projects.
