Sacramento International Airport
Central Terminal B at Sacramento International Airport includes a terminal building for ticketing, a baggage claim and tenant spaces, and a separate concourse building for security screening with approximately 22 departure gates. The two buildings are connected via an automated people-moving system.
AVANT ACOUSTICS provided the following services:
- Paging system design, including interface with existing terminal
- On-site system commissioning, including operator training and assistance
Project Highlights:
AVANT ACOUSTICS’ design for the paging system utilizes a computer-controlled system with network based audio transport, allowing for maximum flexibility and future expansion.
The system interfaces with the fire alarm system to improve intelligibility of emergency announcements. AVANT also designed the system to interface with the automated people-moving system (to prevent overlapping announcements) and with the multi-user flight information display system (MUFIDS) for visual paging functions.
Architectural and aesthetic designs presented unique acoustical challenges for loudspeaker placement. Paging within the large ticketing lobby is addressed by using digitally-steered line array loudspeakers hidden inside the columns.
