College of Charleston Arena
The College of Charleston constructed the Carolina First Arena to provide a state-of-the-art home for their men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball teams. The 190,000-square-foot facility has an arena seating capacity of 5,100 spectators and a high-end hospitality room.
AVANT ACOUSTICS provided the following services:
- Room acoustics consultation
- Sound reinforcement system design
- On-site system commissioning, including operator training and assistance during the first use
Project Highlights:
The sound system in the arena consists of 6 loudspeaker clusters that provide audio coverage to the floor and 16 loudspeaker clusters that provide audio coverage to the seats. Ceiling-mounted loudspeakers are installed at the concession areas, as well.
The system also includes a sound-operating location with securable custom millwork to house the mixing console, all the program source equipment, and other equipment needed by the operator during an event.
The hospitality room includes a sound system that can either be used as an independent system for local events or as an extension of the arena. There is an audio-visual system in this room, as well, which includes a large projection screen and projector and inputs for laptop computers and video players.
