San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport
San Luis Obispo County Reginal Airport (SBP) has a new, 56,000-square-foot terminal, constructed for $39.5 million. With high ceilings, natural materials, and an outdoor courtyard that connects landside and airside buildings, the terminal conveys a strong sense of the regional landscape. The terminal includes ticketing and baggage claim lobbies, a central meet-and-greet lobby, security screening, the outdoor courtyard, and a separate gate holdroom building.
AVANT ACOUSTICS provided the following services:
- Room acoustics consultation
- Audio communication (paging) system design
- Construction administration and on-site system commissioning
Project Highlights:
AVANT ACOUSTICS worked with the project team early in the design to ensure that the paging system would coordinate with the aesthetics and function of the new terminal. AVANT designed a computer-controlled audio paging system that delivers clear sounding live and prerecorded announcements. Other features of the system include integrated background music, and automatic level adjustment based on ambient noise conditions. The system is easy to use and flexible to support possible future growth of the terminal.
