Wichita Southeast High School
Wichita Southeast High School is a new, $68 million, 330,000-square-foot facility that is home to 2,000 students. The west wing of the building is dedicated to athletics and the performing arts. It includes a 900-seat auditorium with an orchestra pit and a large, centralized commons area.
This project received the AIA Wichita Excellence in Architecture Award.
AVANT ACOUSTICS provided the following services:
- Acoustical and noise control consultation
- Audio-visual and sound reinforcement systems design
- On-site system commissioning including operator training and assistance during the first use
Project Highlights:
To ensure the elegant auditorium at Southeast sounded as good as it looks, AVANT ACOUSTICS designed a system with loudspeaker clusters hidden at strategic locations to provide full-range audio coverage. AVANT also included a high-definition projection system, wireless hearing assistance system, stage monitor system, recording capabilities, and a mixing console that can be controlled remotely through a computer or iPad app.
In addition, AVANT ACOUSTICS provided acoustical consultation and noise control recommendations for the auditorium and adjacent commons area.
