The Truman Forum is a multi-use public space at the Plaza Branch of the Kansas City Public Libraries.  The lower-level includes the 222-seat auditorium, a large meeting space that can be combined with the auditorium, and a smaller stand-alone meeting room.  All three are served by a common lobby/prefunction space.

AVANT ACOUSTICS provided the following services:

  • Room acoustics and mechanical noise control consultation
  • Sound reinforcement and audio-visual systems design
  • On-site system commissioning including operator training and assistance during the first use

Project Highlights:

The auditorium features operable glass partitions with adjustable wooden louvers on two sides. These allow the space to be physically or visually opened up to the large meeting room and prefunction areas. The third side is lined with full-height windows facing Brush Creek and the Plaza district. The windows feature motorized shades for events that require controlled lighting.

Audio-visual systems in the Truman Forum include a large projection screen, videoconferencing, and audio-video recording capabilities.
