AVANT ACOUSTICS had the pleasure of providing acoustical consulting services for the construction of the new Mark Arts building in Wichita, Kansas. This new 40,000-square-foot building features nine studios and a great hall for special events, as well as gallery space.
Our acoustical consulting team collaborated with designers from Alloy Architecture to create acoustical solutions for the project’s unique architecture. Our team worked on the event space and the gallery.
AVANT ACOUSTICS provided the following services:
Project Highlights:
The gallery has a lot of exterior glass, which made it more challenging to include acoustical treatments in the room. Our team was able to angle the exterior glass walls to prevent flutter echo and include a center section of stretched membrane acoustical ceiling. This led to a room that works very well acoustically.

Like many event spaces today, the Mayo Center has a retractable airwall system that allows customization and flexibility of its rooms. Few people think about the acoustical challenges this creates. For Mayo, AVANT conducted extensive field testing of the operable partition installation to ensure the spaces would properly support concurrent uses.

This $15 million project at Hy-Vee’s Corporate Headquarters included a conference hall that subdivides into multiple configurations, a pre-function lobby, standalone conference/training rooms, a kitchen, and a cafeteria.
AVANT ACOUSTICS provided the following services:
Project Highlights:
AVANT ACOUSTICS provided consultation and design for an extremely flexible video routing and production system for the conference hall and surrounding spaces. The system is capable of routing video from any of the spaces to any of the four large projection screens in the hall and any of the many flat panel displays located throughout the lobby and ancillary spaces. The projectors and screens in the conference hall were designed to retract into the gaps between the ceiling clouds so that they disappear entirely when not in use. The loudspeaker distribution for the hall is also hidden in the gaps in the ceiling clouds and provides high-quality audio reinforcement to the entire hall.
AVANT also provided commissioning services that included the configuration of a fully-redundant audio network, as well as the creation of intuitive, user-friendly graphical interfaces for controlling the system. The control system allows the conference hall to be divided into multiple smaller spaces for smaller events.
